Besides being a full time rental studio, Pittsburgh Photo Studio also offers photography classes for photographers of all levels.  Classes are scheduled based on demand.  The following class list will give you an idea of what types of classes we offer.  All of our classes are taught by professional photographers from the Pittsburgh region.  All of our classes are appropriate for people who have either a DSLR or an advanced point and shoot camera with exposure control capabilities.  Don’t know what that means?  Just get in touch with us and we can let you know if our classes are right for you!  To inquire about upcoming classes, please give us a call at 412-315-8133.

Beginner DSLR Classes

Our most popular class!  Did you just get a fancy new DSLR camera?  Maybe you’ve been using one for a while and haven’t moved from the automatic mode.  Why don’t my pictures look as good as the ones that I see professionals taking?  What is the difference between the inexpensive lenses and the ones that cost a fortune?  If you are asking these types of questions, our beginner DSLR class is for you.

Our beginner camera class will take you from novice to intermediate photographer.  This class covers all the different components and functions of your camera.  You will leave the automatic setting on your camera, and probably never return!  We will also cover topics like:  what makes a good picture, how to compose your image, processing your images on your computer and other topics based on class interest.  Following this class, you will be able to confidently use the “creative modes” of your camera and apply the proper setting based on your shooting environment.

The beginner class runs for 4 weeks, one evening a week.  Classes are scheduled based on demand.  Call us today to reserve a spot!  Tuition for the beginner class is only $200.  We offer group discounts for groups with 5+ members – contact us for details.

This class is appropriate for any age group.  Perfect for kids who are interested in photography as well as adults who want to go to the next level.

Studio Lighting Classes for Photography

If you are interested in taking your studio work to the next level, you need to know how to use off camera lights and modifiers to achieve the results you want.  This class is for people who are comfortable using their camera in some of the “creative” modes – (Av and Tv for example) but haven’t had much experience using a full manual mode.  Following this class you will be able to confidently use your camera in the full manual mode and you will be able to utilize off camera lighting to generate striking effects.
